ADMISSION AND GRANTS
The degree in Fundamentals of Architecture and Town Planning aims to train professionals who are capable of designing, projecting and managing the space where humans live their lives, including buildings, urban planning and landscape.
Students on this degree course at the University of Alcalá School of Architecture, are provided with comprehensive and cutting edge training, fostering teamwork, awareness and respect for nature and the environment, and a management of space which considers energy consumption, light, sound, and the refurbishment and restoration of space.
Architecture is a clear example of a liberal profession in its dual role of design and planning and development, and the carrying out of that design and planning.

Students of Fundamentals of Architecture and Town Planning should have a solid background in Mathematics, Physics and Art History, and considerable skills in artistic and technical design, as well as a great deal of interest in artistic production and design. Creative ability and artistic sensitivity, analysis and synthesis capability, critical reasoning, teamwork skills, organisational and planning ability, and a motivation for quality and vocation will also be useful.
Among other roles, architects are qualified to work professionally in areas including: new building projects; restoration and intervention in historical heritage; town planning and urban design; landscape and the environment; technical consultancy on structures and installations; general design and graphic design; real estate evaluation and management; construction management. All these tasks could be performed in companies in all sectors.
