How to apply for the NIE

To apply for the NIE, you need to book an appointment at the police station on the following web site: https://sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es/icpplus/citar

1. Choose the province Madrid.
2. In the next option, choose TOMA DE HUELLAS (EXPEDICIÓN DE TARJETA) Y RENOVACIÓN DE TARJETA DE LARGA DURACIÓN and Entrar (see below).
3. Print the documentation you'll need to hand in when you go to police station.
4. Fill in your information, the NIE number is at the bottom of visa page in your passport Please do not fill in the blank space Fecha de Caducidad de su tarjeta actual.
5. After entering the code that the page requests two times , select the police station office, the nearest is Alcalá de Henares police station. It is located in Avda de Meco, s/n just in front of Alcala Magna mall: https://goo.gl/maps/ASDqZeS7VnC2
6. Fill in the page with your information and enter the same code with the image that the page requests.
7. Choose the date that is best for you.
8. Check yes for the following options:
   
   1. Confirma la información mostrada en pantalla. (Confirm the information displayed on the screen.).
   2. Deseo recibir un correo con mi cita. (Please send me an email with my appointment.).
9. Print the appointment.
