Total number of places available: 100

A minimum of 20 students are required to teach the Master's programme.

Specific admission conditions

Entry profile

The Master's Degree in Architecture is designed, mainly, to give continuity to the Degree in Fundamentals of Architecture and Town Planning of the University of Alcalá or other similar studies (of degree level) in Architecture carried out in other universities with study plans with competences designed according to the requirements established in the Order EDU/2075/2010, of 29th July and verified by ANECA.

The professional competences proper to the regulated profession of Architect will be obtained only if the Master's Degree in Architecture is done and previously a Degree with a study plan with competences according to the Order EDU/2075/2010, of 29th July has been completed.

Selection criteria

Given the case that the number of applications is higher than the places available, candidates will be selected taken into consideration the academic record of the degree provided as a requirement, generally the Degree in Fundamentals of Architecture and Town Planning or any other equivalent degrees in Architecture.

Therefore, priority will be given to students from the Degree in Fundamentals of Architecture and Town Planning or other equivalent degrees in Architecture over other graduates, thus establishing two groups:

  • Students from the Degree in Fundamentals of Architecture and Town Planning or equivalent degrees (with priority).
  • Students from other studies.

In both cases, the body responsible for admission, which will be the School of Architecture's Academic Committee, will determine the order of access based on a single criterion, the academic record of the previous degree studies.

Level of English

In the case of subjects offered both in Spanish and English, the English language will be available only for those students who request it as a means to carry out part of their teaching-learning process, and will appear in the European Supplement to the Degree Title. English language training activities will not be compulsory for all students on the Master's Degree. For this reason, section 1.3.2.1 of the memorandum specifies that the language of instruction of the Master's is Spanish.

For those students requesting subjects in English it will be checked that they have a suitable level to follow the course with guarantees. In order to do so, students must prove their knowledge of English at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, in accordance with Recommendation No. R(98) 6 of the Committee of Ministers of Member States of 17 October 2000.

Subjects, academic staff, competences, teaching guides and final project regulations

For Master's Dissertations to be defended from the academic year 2019-20 onwards, it has been established that, along with the Master's Dissertation, the student must submit to the director the summarized report (% of coincidence) given through Turnitin application, once the director has opened the application to obtain the aforementioned report (Approved by the Official Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies Committee, on its regular session dated 24th September 2019).
