Abstract: This course covers the didactic approach to the contents, strategies, resources and materials necessary for graduates in their future professional work and aims to orientate them on how to introduce the new methodologies researched over past decades into the classroom environment. The 2nd year subjects Earth Sciences and Life and The Science of Matter and Energy, endeavour to overcome the conceptual and attitudinal limitations of student teachers. Students are also expected to learn about methodologies, strategies and current educational tools so that in the future they will become competent professionals and provide children with a comprehensive education. Thus, the main objective of this course is to train teachers who are able to combine traditional methods of transmitting knowledge with active, participatory, autonomous, group and cooperative teaching-learning, which tend to encourage student skills and attitudes and which relate to autonomy, critical thinking, the ability of logical reasoning and analysis, creativity, curiosity, perseverance, the ability to learn by oneself and cooperatively and sociability. Likewise, this course aims to raise awareness among student teachers of the transcendence of the Sciences in developing the skills needed by todays children as future citizens who will know how to function effectively in the society in which they live.
