Goals and competencies

The goals of this Master's degree are in line with the stipulates of the Spanish Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (MECES) and ensure the achievement of the basic competencies required to obtain a master's degree, following article 3.3, Appendix I of R.D. 1393/2007.

Fulfilment of the goals means students have achieved competencies that must be consistent with the fundamental rights of equality between men and women, with the principles of equal opportunities and universal accessibility for the disabled, and with the values proper to a democratic and peace-loving culture.

A minimum of 20 students are required to teach the Master's programme.

Reserved places: 5% for students with a certified disability of 33% or more.

Specific admission conditions

Entry profile

Applicants must hold an official Spanish or accredited foreign university degree, preferably in the area of Arts and Humanities or in the area of Social and Legal Sciences.

No specific prior studies of the contents of the Master's degree are required. However, to matriculate in the optional subjects of subject 2 ("Advanced Studies in Classical Philology"), it is considered advisable to have previous knowledge of Greek and Latin languages, at the level of those acquired in the degrees in Classical Philology, Sciences and Languages of Antiquity, and equivalents, which are optimal for the completion of this Master's degree.

If students cannot demonstrate this prior knowledge, they should matriculate in the optional subjects of module 3 ("Advanced Studies in Classical Culture").

The master's degree will be taught in Spanish. Therefore, students whose mother tongue is not Spanish must certify a level of Spanish equal to or higher than level B2 of the European Framework of Reference for Languages with the DELE or SIELE certificates.

 

Selection criteria

The assessment criteria for admission to the Master's degree include:

  • Standard transcript of records 40%.
  • Adequacy of previous studies. It is assessed as follows:
    • 40% (highest affinity): graduates in Classical Philology and related degrees, History, History of Art, Humanities and related degrees.
    • 30%: graduates in the rest of the degrees in the field of Arts and Humanities.
  • Motivación letter 20%. The applicant must indicate in as much detail as possible his/her specific interest in pursuing this Master's degree, and his/her previous knowledge and motivation for choosing the particular specialisation.
