Welcome to the University of Alcalá, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is one of the oldest universities in Europe. founded in 1499 by Cardinal Cisneros. We boast, among, our former alumni, some of the greatest literary figures in Spanish culture, such as Lope de Vega, Tirso de Molina, Francisco de Quevedo, to name just a few.

The University is located in Alcalá de Henares, 30 km from Madrid, which is very well known as the birthplace of Miguel de Cervantes, the unforgettable creator of Don Quixote.

Today the University of Alcalá is a modern institution which offers a very wide range of different degrees, covering all sorts of knowledge: Humanities, Experimental Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Architecture and Engineering, Social Sciences,...

This is one of the first Spanish universities fully adapted to the European Higher Education Area. We have about 27000 students reading different degrees, undergraduate as well as graduate studies, in our 3 campuses: one is located here in the historic heart of Alcalá de Henares, another is the external Campus for scientific and technological subjects and the third one is in Guadalajara, which is about 20 km from Alcalá de Henares, where students can do Business, Teacher-training, Nursing among other subjects.

As well as possessing a rich architectural and artistic heritage which is the legacy of more than 500 years of history the University of Alcalá combines this history and this architectural heritage with its commitment to technology, to innovation, to collaboration with business, industry and with a fair commitment for internationalization. In fact more than 5.000 students come every year from abroad to complete their studies at this University.

We also have numerous agreements with many institutions in Spain and abroad which allow our students to do their practices in business, in industry and as well as in many foreign institutions.
