¡¡¡Wellcome to Alcalá !!!

First of all, we would like to introduce ourselves: we are the students from the Erasmus Student Network Universidad de Alcalá association. Most of us have been exchange students in the past and know how difficult it can be to move in a completely new environment, without knowing much about the place and the local people. Our goal is to try to make you feel a little bit more at home by helping you with practical matters as well as getting to know other people here in Alcalá. We organise sightseeing in Alcalá and Madrid, trips to other cities in Spain, parties, meetings, language exchange programs and many other kind of activities. But we also try to help you in more serious situations, since we are students here and we might know better how to face problems that arise in (and around) our university environment.

An important thing you should know is that we are not paid at all for what we do: we work entirely on a voluntary basis and the payback we have is knowing we have been able to help someone and also getting to know many interesting and different people.

The Network

Today the E.S.N. network consists of nearly 100 sections active in 16 European Countries. This represents almost 40.000 students a year whom we work directly with.

The aims of ESN are to promote the social and personal integration of the students who spend part of their studies in a foreign university. Every country, every university has it's own traditions. It takes time for a newcomer to find his way in the new environment. The most qualified person to guide an exchange student in the university world and to show him/her time saving shortcuts through the local bureaucracy is another local student. The students at the local ESN section offer this service and other invaluable information to the international students hosted by their university.

The Erasmus experience gives you a great opportunity to get to know another culture in a very deep way: it's a big chance you have that you should not waste any way. Sharing your culture with the local one and with other students coming from other countries can surely only make your stay here better.
