Dear student,

Welcome to the Faculty of Pharmacy website.

This Faculty of Pharmacy was established in 1975, when the classrooms of other universities in Spain were overcrowded. Nevertheless, this situation was not so critical in this Faculty, having one of the best student/teacher ratios in the whole country. This situation has remained so far and it continuous to be unmatched by any other public Faculty of Pharmacy in Spain.

Therefore, the Faculty has been working for more than 35 years. A short period of time when compared to the University of Alcalá aged 500 years, but quite enough to reach a reasonable maturity within the Spanish and European contexts.

Considering its recent existence, it allows students and teachers to work in a modern building with classrooms and laboratories equipped with teaching and safety systems in line with current needs.

The practical features of the pharmacy curriculum and the multidisciplinary structure of our 19 departments guarantee our students a top-quality preparation in different subjects, both at degree and postgraduate levels, which are the basis for their future professional development. But in addition to specific training, we are also concerned about their personal development, so we encourage an individualized treatment of our students through a personalized tutorial program and other training activities in areas of interest by promoting elective courses such as improvement in foreign language, sports and cooperation.

We are also aware of the promotion and development that university-enterprise agreements offer and the need to interact with other Faculties of health sciences in our own University, as well as Faculties of Pharmacy abroad. Thus, we have an ambitious program of practices in national and international pharmaceutical laboratories, and encourage students to participate in foreign exchange programs with other universities such as the European ERASMUS program.
